Neil Flynn was born on 13 November 1960. He was actually born in the south side of Chicago and then moved to Waukegan, Illinois, US. He studied from Waukegan East High School, and while studying, he won the Illinois Individual Events state championship for “Humorous Duet Acting’ along with his partner Mike Shklair. He returned to Chicago after doing graduation from the Bradley University- Peoria, Illinois. He became a ‘Sigma Nu’ for participating in the Bradley University Speech Team.
He started acting at the Goodman and Steppenwolf Theatres in Chicago. He also joined Improv Olympic and the Second City Comedy Troupe. He earned a nomination for the Joseph Jefferson Award for his role in ‘The Ballad Of the Sad Café’. He appeared in the TV series ‘Scrubs‘ as “Janitor“. He had actually auditioned for the role of “Dr. Cox” but he got the role of “The Janitor” afterwards.
He has done small roles in ‘Seinfeld‘, ‘That 70’s Show‘, ‘Baby’s Day Out‘, ‘CSI‘, ‘My Boys‘, and ‘Smallville‘. He has also appeared in minor roles in ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Major League‘. He was seen in one episode of ‘The Drew Carey Show’. He did voice-Over roles for ‘Buzz Lightyear of Star Command’, ‘Ratchet and Clank’ (video game) and in ‘Kim Possible’.
He has performed at the iO West in ‘Beer‘, ‘Shark‘ and ‘Mice‘. He won the NBR Award at the National Board of Review- 1999 for Best Acting by an Ensemble for ‘Magnolia‘.

Neil Flynn is playing the role of “The Janitor” in the ‘Scrubs’ tv show. He is intelligent and well respected by the hospital staff. He has been tormenting J.D at several occasions and thinks that he works very little.
