Aloma Wright was born on 10 March 1950 in New York, U.S.A. She grew up in California. She has done graduation from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York. She is the mother of a daughter.

She has acted in the TV shows ‘Mad Men’, ‘Power Rangers in Space‘, ‘Malcolm in the Middle’, ‘Frasier‘, ‘Friends’, and ‘Medical Investigation’ etc. She has appeared in some TV Movies like ‘When Billie Beat Bobby’, ‘Ben 10: Race Against Time’ and ‘All I Want’. She has also acted in the film ‘Mr. Deeds’ and in the TV series ‘Scrubs‘. She acted as “Nurse Laverne Roberts” in ‘Scrubs‘ but later on she also acted as “Nurse Shirley” in its seventh season.

Aloma Wright has played two roles in ‘Scrubs’ tv show. She played “Nurse Laverne Roberts” in the beginning and then she appeared as “Nurse Shirley” in the seventh season of the series.

Role as Laverne Roberts: She works as a nurse at the Sacred Heart Hospital. She is fond of watching soap operas, and intra-office gossiping. She has her own notions about premarital sex and abortion. She is close to Carla. She is married to Lester and has a son and a nephew.  She met with a car accident and went into coma. She was kept on a life support, but she had a brain damage and was brain dead. Everyone went to see her in the hospital, to speak to her and to bid her good-bye, after her family decided to take her off the life support. Carla could not accept the fact that she is going to be no more, she avoids saying her good-bye at first, but then, she bid her a farewell.

Role as Shirley: Aloma Wright appeared once again in the series as “Nurse Shirley”. She is the nurse at the Sacred Heart Hospital. She was seen for a while when Kim was delivering a baby. She resembles Laverne in her appearances, and she is often compared with her. J.D has nicknamed her ‘Laverneagain’, but this new name is not liked by Shirley. She gets close to Janitor and both of them become good friends.
